Hi all, yes I know how frustrating it is when a newbie comes to a forum and posts the same question that has been posted loads before, but hey why break a forum trend
Just bought an 02 TD4, had a 2002 TD4 for 12 months when I lived abroad and the missus really liked it, we are now back in the Uk and just moved to the middle of nowhere so decided that we would go that route again, foolishly I was at an auction last week (looking for a bike) and a 1 owner 50,000 miler came through so I stuck my hand up, I'm a reasonable mechanic but hadnt done my resaerch so wasnt aware of the issue with the VCU and the faults it can cause with the diff. Anyway this one drives lovely and looks all ok APART FROM the great big clunk that I get when pulling away slowly on lock, it really is a big bang. Had a look and obviously cant see anything. It sounds like it is coming from the rear so can I assume it is a diff problem. I will run it in to my mechanic next week and see what he says but any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
If that is the fault will have to decide if it is worth fixing. I paid £2150 and it really is very straight and drives nicely and I guess to sell would have to put back through the auction but hey ho, its a risk you take I guess.
Anyway glad to be part of this forum, hopefully I'll be able to contribute in some minor way
Cheers
