Problems with my drive. I need to get me 110 from Manchester to Newhaven in the Peak District. Anyone any ideas the cheapest way to do this with no drive?

Think yu need to be a bit more specific about the symptoms.

If it has come on sudden, has the transfer box lever got moved into neutral?

Have a look at the end of your garden. I lose mine sometimes when it snows. I blame the old tarmac going pale. :D

I got a bloke off ebay to move my 88. Quite a good price.

Bit of a problem. On a short 6 mile journey, stopped at some traffic lights, went to move off at green and clunk followed by a whirring sound and we were not moving.
Tried every gear, in hi/lo with locked diff and still no drive just same noise.Handbrake (which is normally quiteeffective) did not work, so called the RAC to get us out of the 5 lane junction.
When we got home safely i got the helpful chap to have a look underneath while I tried her in drive again. He said the front prop was not turning, but the rear was but I had no drive at all.

Last year I had a reconditioned G suffix gear box put on with new clutch so I'm doubtful it's the gearbox. Possibly the transfer box, centre diff or rear diff. Any ideas?
Not gonna get round to checking forlumpy oils in the suspected areas until Sunday so thought I put it out there for some good ideas.
Also may need a tow soon

Cheers in advance for any help!

Join the AA then wait a couple of weeks get a few miles from home then call relay out lol
Actually a good idea. With the RAC who got me out of the initial predicament. I was going to buy a tow bar and get a mate to tow me to Newhaven, but maybe I'd he tows me a couple of miles and then does 1 while I call the RAC.

If the rear shaft is turning and the vehicle is stationary, rear halfshaft failure is likely. If the front shaft isn't turning, centre diff gone.

Ashcrofts make an uprated one, it looks really good

Yep, if I were building a money no object fender or D1, I would probably have quite a few of their nice shiny extras - they do look rather good - and have a good reputation too :)

but I don't drive hard enough to break the standard one.

me neither - too old to be bothered thrashing my disco - take the tractor - its built for serious "off roading":D
