Hi.
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience after loosing their ONLY key for the D2?
Ours has been dropped and now misplaced.. so we've not got any way of gaining access to the car...
Not got any fobs or anything with any numbers on...
Any ideas?
thanks.

Main dealer should be able to get you a key from their vehicle records - expect to have to prove you own the thing. They can probably get the remote too - but expect tears from your wallet.....

This lot might be worth a try anorl:-

http://mgroverkeys.co.uk/

no affiliation etc....

thanks - ill try the link first and then go to the dealers...
I suppose I could try and get the key part from them, then a cheaper version online for the fob...?

(I have a nano com if necessary)

Thanks for the advice - but it seems they won't give you the EKA code until its been read by their reader, which you send back. And their reader will only work if the car is NOT immobilised,.... so I guess the dealer will have access to the EKA code?

My experience of Timpsons is that they will only cut their own supplied blades.
Try a good hardware shop or a locksmith.

You will find the key number on the ‘security information’ ticket in your owners handbook, also on a sticky label on the wiring loom near the ignition switch which gives u the steering lock number which is the same. If you still have have them :)

Key cutting shops only cut a facsimile of an existing profile, they don't have records all the vehicle manufacturers key profiles to set up the cutting tool profile , but a main dealership does.

Just one thing though, how who can cut the blade, once I get the code... will timpsons etc be able to do it?
Timpzons will only cut a key if you purchase it from them. I tried yesterday with some blanks for our LR3. Wanted £50 for a key. Any shop that has a laser lath can do it.

Ditto above, timpson's wouldn't cut my blank either so I shall not be using them for anything again.
