The metal key has separated from the fob and been lost today.I didn't get a spare with the car.But got the fob.Can I get a replacement key from a dealer with the vin etc ? At least it's on the drive not the M6. Help !

If it is like other cars, you can have new keys cut using the existing barrel and code from it. A locksmith should be able to do that for you.

Have you got the key number in your owners pack?

If you have, you can buy a new blade and get it cut by a locksmith.

If you've got proof of ownership dealers will give you the key code & some have key cutting equipment. Guy Salmon Wakefield even offer a postal service via ebay. May not help your urgrnt need though!

Thanks guys , this is what happened- tried local locksmith no joy -then local land rover dealer - can make copy from key but no spare but could supply key number from vin assuming locks never changed.
Called bigger dealer hunters in chester with key number- they checked key number/vin too- who on e-mailed pic of v5 and readable vin made made a new "blade" and offered to post it for £10.50 +vat.Replacement key (blade) fitted fine , phew.
