Hi , I’m new to this site , but after some tech advice.
My defender , keeps losing power , the engine light comes on and the accelerator does nothing ! After coasting to a halt , I restart the engine and off she goes again good as gold ! Been to my garage and put the fault finder on , comes up as mass air flow , manage to clear the fault but next day same thing .... anyone had the same experience? It’s a 1997 defender 90 TD5 - driving me mad !! Cheers !

Then test drive. If it runs ok, you need a new MAF sensor. Only buy genuine land rover, cheaper can be had but you'll pay again in a few months. Some buy VDO/Siemens branded and report no issues. Easy peasy to change, just undo clips at airbox end, loosen jubilee clip on pipe end and wiggle free. If you can take old one out you'll know how to put new one in

Really good video on how to check your MAF sensor here. Recommend subscribing to this guys 'Vehicle Repair Toolbox videos' YouTube Channel (Also 5 cylinder symphony) - he's excellent!
