I have a freelander1 TD4 GS AUTO. While driving I had sudden loss of power and when throttle was pressed the engine just roared. The dashboard showed the gear box to be in D but when I pulled over it was flashing 4 F 4 F 4 F etc'. I managed to limp home but now have to sort this out. Has anybody had experience of this and could give me some advice. Thanks, Tel.

Yes. Check the barrel connectors mounted above the gearbox haven't come apart. They twist to join together. Tie wrap then is the easy fix. F4 flashing is fault mode when it selects 4th gear only. Could be a broken cable on the auto's wiring loom. These are the easy to check items which often fix this fault.

Thanks for your reply, I have told the chap that's looking at the vehicle for me and he's going to check that out ( I'm too old to crawl under motors anymore). Thanks again.

Give me a shout if you want some over this weekend as I got the hawkeye reader and tools
just in box me :)
