Hi another problem with Landy. Noticed I have had a dripping heater hose. Have purchased new ones to replace them. The question is, took it out a run the other night and on returning there was steam coming out from behind the engine, I put this down to water running off the indentation that holds the spare wheel on the bonnet, it was torrential rain and a lot of water does tend to lie here. Checked the water level last night and the radiator was nearly full but on checking the water level this afternoon it had gone down quite a bit, I had to put in just under a litre of water, I do know that the small heater hose is dripping but would this cause so much loss of water. The Landy is running well and have checked the oil it seems to be fine, no white couloring there. Is it normal for a Landy to use so much water. I had it drained a fornight ago while servicing the engine and putting in the coolant, the water just seemed to go down this amount since last night while parked up. Any ideas appreciated.......

depends on which landy you done got. some of the earlier one dunt got an expansion tank so that when it get hot any expanded water will simply leak away down the over flow pipe. then when the engine cools down all it has to fill the space, is air.

1983 landy ex nato 109 at the radiator it has an over flow running into a tank dont think its an expansion type any clues did notice some fluid in this bottle could it be faulty rad cap ?

you should have some fluid in yer bottle .;at least covering the bottom end of yer pipe
