The fela I got the wheels and tyres told me to lift the disco.

Plus it seems bouncy on the standard springs.

Wait till yu lift it it'll be like riding a space hopper. No ones asked yet but is this your daily driver?? Cos if it is then you deffo don't want any of the stuff on your list..

I'm starting to get the impression that your gonna do this lidft regardless of any advice on here. So Can I make 1 suggestion that won't cost you a fortune.??

Take your bog standard Disco to a P&P site and see just what it's capable of doing. If you're not happy with it and you're constantly getting stuck. Then go for a set of l;ift spacers and go back and try again. and then if you get stuck again, then Go for the lift kit.
 
If I just put the 3" 0n the front and the 2" on the back will that be fine because I have a winch and bumper for the front?

I am new to 4X4 so I don’t really know what I need to do but I’m looking to go off roading and what to make shore my disco is up to it.

I have all ready got:

light bar and lights
southdown snorkel
winch bumper
sumpguard plate
Wading Kit (AXLES,GEARBOX,TRANSFER BOX)
2" suspension lift blocks
4 wheels & tyres
+2" and +3" springs

That’s what I thought are the basics am I right?

okay...based on what you've already bought...it's pretty complete...you'll only need extended brake hose, extended bump stop & +2" shocks.....

+3" spring front...and +2" rear............there is no need to further add lift blocks to the suspension....otherwise, you'll be needing crank arms...

it is unsure if you'll need relocation cones at this stage.......however, if you find the springs popping out, then add relocation cones later....

Personally, I wouldn't go Tom's farm......from Liverpool...you can go Cowm quarry, Briercliffe or even Tong....
 
No I only got it to have some fun in.

So the best thing to do is put my tyres on and my winch and see how it handles that’s the best thing to do?

Like I said I was only going to lift it because he said everyone who had bought the tyres and wheels has had clearance issues with them that’s all.

Also you think its best puting the 3" on the front?

I think the OP sounds like a reasonable enough chap with good intentions, I dont think he should be shot down for wanting to modify the car.

I personally enjoy building the vehicle, so tend to buy new bits before I need them :D

However, the best and cheapest advice is to use the car until something breaks, or until you can decide what's holding you back, then buy new parts and make it better.

I did a few offroad days on AT Tyres and 40mm lift blocks and it was great, but it has now progressed with extended arches, full lift kit, 33" tyres, locking diffs, etc etc, all of which were bought in stages when I decided things were in need of upgrade.

Don't go out and buy too much in one go or you won't know what works and what doesn't!

I’m not fused about spending the money that doesn’t bother me at all I just want to make shore it is set up so I don’t have any problems and that nothing brakes lol I would rather do it now then later that’s why I was asking to see what other people have done.

You don't need 5" shocks though, a 2" or 3" lift is fine.

Cranked arms, full polybush, extended lines, and diff guards will be nice. 32 or 33 Tyres will be good, then you might need to cut the arches if you fit wide Tyres.

Check that the propshafts are in good nick, mine are standard and fine, but I have rebuilt the sliders and replaced a few UJs.

Tbh there's not much useless **** you can buy for a landrover, if it looks decent it'll probably work :D

Iv just got some 32 wheels and tyres,

I will go tomorrow and get some 2+ shocks and fit the springs I have got and I think that will do me then.

I will get the diff guards as well when I’m picking up the shocks.

Anything else I may need when I’m at the shop?

what wheels did you get? steels have a bigger offset and will require cutting of the body along with the usual lock stop adgustment etc.

might be worth picking up a couple of wheel bearings too :p
 
get a ropw, A MATE AND GO OUT.Then deceide if the extra clearance helps-doubt it.save ys money on repairs.everything breaks on landrovers, more so if there used offroad.

and if you go to big with the tyres you will need to sort the gearing out ie defender transfer box to lower gearing or your be blowing up diffs.

its unlikely to break the diff if you dont have lockers, more likely a halfshaft or CV joint,
 
and then with lockers you're unlikely to break the diff, more likely a halfshaft or cv.

and then with a defender transfer box you're only going to get reduced ratios in high range.

best bet is to fit ashcroft HD low ratio crown wheel and pinions.

but thats extra cash that i, and many others, dont want to spend yet!

i just take it steady with my diffs locked up, no rush so no need to snap a shaft.

that's the theory, so far! :D

No matter how you lift it and from the sounds of things I'd recomend spacers to sit under your exisiting springs, however no matter what way you choose to do your lift, you're going to have to chop out some of your wheel arches, also with those tyres I'd have thought you'll need whell spacers aswell.

i wouldnt recomment spacers, better off having the longer springs, better offroad ride quality and more suspension travel. Ive got 32's and dont need spacers either :D
