...a salisbury axle case spreader tool. Can't seem to find these anywhere! We need to swap the ring and pinion in the 101's axles as the final stage of the diesel conversion.

If anybody has one available to buy or to borrow it would be hugely appreciated!

have you actually tried removal yet, not got experience myself but have heard it's possible without the spreader tool.

We've heard you can too, but then the tool exists for a reason and every internet guide shows the case being spread.

We don't want to get one axle complete to find the second axle won't play ball without a spreader!

you dont need a spreader tool 2 lever bars is enough ,and carrier bearing preload is only 5 thou so carrier will tap in quite easliy ,just ensure caps are marked so you know which way round they go plus which side and set pinion preload properly not by marking nut

Thanks for the advice everyone, we're going to try it on the spare axle we have and if it isn't too bad crack on with the 101. Can't wait to have it sorted, with the axles, transfer rations and overdrive in 50mph should be around 2200rpm! Currently it's a bit noisy sat at 60...

Just incase anyone was interested, we attempted to remove the diff from the spare axle without a spreader and it was a no go.

Time to get making something.
