This conversation just goes on and on. New to this forum stuff - interesting though. I cant work out why I see so many Freelanders while peering out of my slightly misted FL windscreen. VW Passats are fab and the new Mondeo aint bad (both good for towing & fab on the:eek: motorway) - but i stickin with my FL and its petrol. Buy one or dont buy, its only a car. Cheap to buy, no cheap to run, so its a choice. Sat in FL 2 at dealer other day - very nice, i wants one but computer (and wife) says no.

Its quite simple really. There is no doubt that buying a Landrover means spending more than the average time with the bonnet up. I say this because from what I've seen and heard the Freelander an't much worse than the other LRs in the fleet.

If you buy a FL its because you want it and you accept that you will need to look after it. That means YOU get the tools out and sleeves up, not take it to a garage for every squeak. If you do the latter you're gonna be a poor man rapedo. You need to find the parts you need and be creative about repairs (not at the expense of safety).

If you're happy with this and you want a FL then go out there and find the best you can and have a great time like the rest of us FL nuts. I've lost count of the number of things I've fixed but I also look to improve the design as I go to try and stop the thing going wrong again.

If this doesn't appeal then you are better with your VWs or Fords or whatever.

Exactly. There really is no further debate on this apart from a bit of fun. I put forward on a different thread that I paid £2k for mine and of course it has cost me more - I expected it to. had i have spent 10, 15, 20 well thats another matter. Has anyone on this thread driven FL 2 and what do you think? It seems like the perfect mini RangeRover, just the right size etc but i only sat in it.

carnt see the problem had my gaylander for 3 years and apart from a fuel leak have had no probs which is more than i can say about the disco i used to have twas the worst pile of sh##t i have had the displeasure to own:mad:
