Hi all I'm Lawrence and new to the forum, Im thinking of buying a 96 disco 1 diesel and need some advice if you would be so kind kind.
Ok so it's disco 1 that's been stood for a while no longer then a year has a smashed windscreen which I've accounted for but the main problem he the log book but has lost the keys and it's to my understanding it most likely to have an immobiliser/alarm, so I know the procedure, is to get the key code for cutting a key and the EKA code from land rover dealer my main question is how much will that cost me me? Maybe someones done this before and knows the procedure, also could do with general advice of places to check etc I'm going to have a good look around it tomorrow to check chassis etc but doesn't look so bad from what I've seen and I guess I can't test the engine or get inside untill I get a key cut unless there's any other ways.
Appreciate the advice anyone can give
Regards
Lawrence

Nothing, a LR main dealer should be be able to give you both codes FOC, as long as you have the VIN details, but they may also wish to see proof of ownership.

Then all you will have to do is find a key cutter that can cut a vehicle key based on the key number given to you by the dealer, obviously there will be a charge for that, the dealer will have the facility to cut keys.

What about the key fob? You will need that to start the engine because of the immobilizer. I had to get a new fob from the local main dealer, it cost £150 a few years ago.

The EKA code will override the engine immobilisation function.
