Thanks for all that info, it's only taken me a few years to get back into it! Does anyone know if a KWP 2000 is ok to use on a 2000 TD4?

KWP2000 is realy a protocall for comunicating to a ecu, imagine it as a language.

The kwp2000 that are for sale on ebay are flash tools for reprogramming not for reading fault codes.

They do work for reading/writing onthe bosch system used on the td4 yes.

Thanks for that, I should have re-read my post. I already have a fault code reader now. I was actually thinking of re-mapping my chip

Ahh sorry , yes it does have the means to read and write that ecu.
Not the best tool in the world butit does work.

It will only read and write , it will not modify the file it reads for you.
I dont advise using the files that may come with it on a DVD as this may cause you problems.
There are 34 different software versions i have seen for the TD4 engine and most have the same ECU and Software revision number on the ecu the differences are inside the files .

If you do decide to try it and have any problems let me know i may be able to help.

sounds like it may be a minefield. You reckon all the maps provided with the package won't boost my BHP safely? It also sounds like you know of the contents of the TD4 mapping files. Do you know where I might source a reliable one from ?

Try Jayson at Chippeduk in Birmingham, or for a plug-in solution, my Synergy 2 works well and will also compensate for maf deterioration.

Yes it is a mine field defenetly,im not saying tha the maps on the cd are all bad, but i have seen some bad ones that have come from there.

All im saying is be careful, if you send me your read file and the mod you find on the CD ill surley take a peeps for you no problem. and adivse HONESTLY with fact about the tuning done to it.

Yes i do know the contents of the td4 files very well.
If you get in trouble let me know i can advise on a good source for a map if needed.
I cant advertise on the forum as ive had greef today about socalled spamming and i dont want to get "told off again looool"

How much is the KWP cable you are intending on buying ??
