Rust......Rear chassis 95% of them are needing or have been welded
Rust....inner wings
Sunroof leaks
dash lights (3 amigos)make sure they come on then go off some folks try to be crafty & take the led bulbs out.
corrosion on ace pipes if its fitted they are expensive to replace
wheel bearings
alarm & locking issues
air bags condition replace every 5 years & it should rise & lower
steering play like driving a motor in a 1950's film lol

That's all I can recall atm.

20 year old motor that was 30k new, you need to look at everything and then some!

Much depends upon the budget!
It's all very well to list the faults to avoid...but if the budget won't stretch that far......:eek::eek:
Stilll.....solves the family's present problems for the foreseeable :D

Just looked on ebay, for the money dreamers want for their D2v8, you can buy a D3v8!

On a v8 check it idles nice and smooth with no stutters or missing, and check the oil. If it looks like its missed oil changes, that could be an issue. Really you want to take a Hawkeye or Nanocom with you.

Give the V8 a good rev when hot, listen for any knocks..
Check the oil as said, these engines need to be kept serviced, the cooling system too, make sure it has clean coolant in there!
Give it a good hard test drive and makes sure it doesn't puke its guts up or weep some water out the expansion tank..

Rust is the killer, the front floor just behind the front wheels needs a good looking at mine was crispy there, quite a few others i've seen

Chassis the rear especially, the chassis legs next to the petrol tank can de-laminate.

All in all i love the D2, a great looking 4x4 and a great performer!

Just find a good un and you'll be golden, a nicer car all round over it's replacements IMO
