Its a 1982 2.5 N/A diesel, it looks pretty tidy, but needs some welding on the chassis for its MOT - driver side rear where the crossmember meets the main chassis arm and passenger side rear at the jacking point.

Never having owned one of these before, what am i letting myself in for???

£600, rest of chassis, floor and bulkhead are solid. Gearbox and diffs good, Been resprayed and looks pretty good in the pictures, interior looks fine, engine bay and underbody look very clean, new steel wheels and tyres fitted

Youll probaly find its been resprayed to hide the fiberglass/filler job on the bulk head, thats the usual trick. And remember, the chassis will rot from the inside out, so even if it looks ok and has a couple of holes, could still be rotton.

A Defender which is sensibly priced at £600 will be buggered beyond belief, but it could be underpriced.

In honest truth, ur better of saving up for a 200tdi. Its a mistake ive learned the hard way, and im not the only one...

The car has the MOT failure report with it, so hopefully they are the only bad bits of the chassis (at the moment). I'm hoping its under priced, but as you say it could be completly shot. The car is a project, and will be a 3rd car, just to use to potter round the local village and lanes in. I just don't want to buy a heap of rust.

If it turns out to be a lemon, would the sum of the parts broken would recoup my money???

You say its a 1982, now Im sure someone will correct me if Im wrong but did'nt the 110 start in 1983 and the 90 was introduced in 1984 ? so if its registered as 1982 90 then alarm bells should be ringing !

I bought an 87 td 90 for £600 the rear crossmeber was shot in the same places as this but the PO had already bought a new crossmember, pair of front military doors and a new rear door and most of the other bits needed to finish the job. I had to replace the tub as the body cappings were rotten It owes me another £250 in bits and bobs. Bumper swingaway wheel carrier etc and it's just about ready to go for it's MOT. So there are £600 90's out there and prices are falling all the time, anyone who pays £2k for a 20 year old deepender needs there fooking head examining or has Cu*t written across there foreheads.

£600 quid if you can do the work if required and it aint bad may be worth a chance.

As for saving up for 200tdi they cost £2k min so dont talk out of ya ass

My 1988 110 cost £0. Given it because the transfer box died and the main box was on it's way. My neighbour and I couldn't come up with a fair way to value it. I've just finished the gearboxes, and driven it for the first time in six months today. But - it needs welding on a bulkhead outrigger and new brake pipes before thinking about an MOT. So I'll probably have put £700 into it, without labour, and will own a driveable but tatty 110.

He gets to use it if he needs it. Works well both ways.

Really difficult to value Landies at this point in their lives. Hard to see a 110 ever being held with the same respect as a Series I!

He'll spend that £1400 in 6 months keeping it on the road ffs. Might as well have a nice one to start with.

If its a **** one anyway. But i said earlier it could be just be underpriced. Besides, youve just done the disco 200 conversion yourself havent you?

Only if he takes it to a main stealer for servicing & repairs. I had a 1984 110 n/a owned it for a little over a year and apart from oils filters and brake pads never spent a penny on it.

I know you said it's a project vehicle but if there's a chance it's beyond repair I'm with Woods, you won't be drivin it for a few weeks while you do the work anyway, so spend this time saving the money you would've spent on parts and get a better one. No matter how much you spend it'll always be a project vehicle cause you'll always have summat to do.
