20141212_083014.jpg is it worth fixing or should I just sell it on its a thor v8 and up until now had loads of work done what is it worth as it stands its a 2000 reg

Ouch, remove you pic or blank your registration ASAP.

If you intended on hanging on to it prior to the knock, I would fix it up and keep as long as there is no major damage behind panels/bumper.
However, bumpers aren't cheap, Could always stick a cheap winch bumper on instead.
Better the devil you know.

HTH.

Why has he to blank his reg?. Someone could just walk or drive past him in the street and copy it down if they wanted to clone it

Doesn't look that bad - easily fixed as long as nothing major is bent underneath! Probably not worth claiming on insurance. I did something similar but damaged both sides and it only cost about £200 for 2 x headlights, 2 x hockey sticks, bumper end caps, number plate bit, grill, bumper and can of paint. All from breakers and half a day to fit!

are you not wanting to get the insurance involved ?

the missis bumped it on the way back from work and until she checked her policy it didn't cover her for commuting, im having to pay for the work on the car hse had hit a focus she done the boot and rear quarter panel not a great start to xmas

the bumper will be our hardest to obtain, as a good one will cost you, the rest you will find cheaply off ebay, but then there's the paint, **** or bust! but as someone said a tin and do it yourself!!!! er not for me, your car looks to clean for a rattle can!

Coz if they don't want to go through insurance and the insurance co get wind of it, it's been in a prang (walls have ears,) they will get a surprise when it comes to renewal time as "they have been involved in an accident" ;)

And admitted to driving without appropriate insurance, 'bumped it on the way back from work and until she checked her policy it didn't cover her for commuting'.:(

Forgive my ignorance but how can you get insurance that dosen't cover for commuting?

Social, domestic and pleasure only....

Plus you technically dont have valid insurance if your using it for purposes that your policy doesnt cover so mr plod has the right to slap you with a driving without insurance

SDP does include commuting. That is part of domestic

Not all SDP inc commuting. If it does it will say so on the policy. Insurance is very simple. IF they can avoid paying they will, so if it doesn't specifically state "Including commuting to and from your place of work" then it isn't covered.

Mainly to stop care workers etc using their cars to do their rounds in. This requires class1 business use.

That's not strictly true, my Mrs is with direct line and care workers are exempt from needing business use insurance. This was proved when she claimed in the insurance. It comes under commuting. And as for commuting on insurance, almost every policy I've had in my 12 years of buying insurance on cars and bikes gives the options of either sdp or sdp including commuting. Social, domestic, pleasure - it's self explanatory really.

Thats not been my experience (ex was a Mental Health support worker) and it's not what The Go Campare site advises.

Insuring your car for work use - Gocompare.com

It's also not the view of North Wales Plod as they did a road side stop a few years ago, outside Gywnedd Hospital and did all the care workers and midwives etc who had SDP no insurance, as well as a fixed penalty for not having a "No Smoking" Sign in their own cars :mad2:
