I have just finished refurbing a set of HD (wolf) rims that i have fitted to my series 3. As expected the studs are slightly too short. Although I am happy with this in the short term and many people run like this without issue I would like to fit longer studs for piece of mind. Can some one confirm that FRC7577 will fit in series 3 hub?

I run wolf wheels on my lightweight with the standard studs (as do the mod) without problems i believe they recommend a higher tourqe

That is why I am happy to run them as is until I get around to fitting the longer studs.

Had a customer in this morning with his 64 plate 110 hi cap ,it has factory fitted wolf wheels and the wheel studs are the shorter ones

Do you know what the higher recommended torque is?

150nm i believe ,standard steels being 100 nm

I just tighten mine till they won't budge any further

Ive never used a tourqe wrench for this either and im yet to lose a wheel !

I always use a torque wrench more as I have a habit of over tightening....Its more about that than doing it tight enough... we can all crank it on until your forehead pops.

I asked the tyres and wheels guy at Paddocks about this very thing a couple of months ago. He strongly recommended me to use the FRC7577. The answer to your question is therefor "yes, FRC7577 will fit in series 3 hub", all according to Paddock.

It may be a little cynical but for the price of them for a full set I am not surprised Paddocks were recommending you to buy them. If the army run standard studs then I may just leave them in. If it is squaddie proof then it should be good enough for me. I will try them at the higher torque and see what happens.

I swapped as well.... bottom line one of my Axles were way off complete thread coverage. If some folk don't have drum brakes its not as bad. Which causes lots of folk to say its fine...

I'm just about to fit my new wolf rims too but am concerned the studs are too short. I really can't be bothered fitting new studs to the hubs so am thinking of just getting a set of new modular rims.

Bit off topics, but anyone know the offset of standard steels off a 109 FFR?
