I have a single mass flywheel on my D2 and don't get any vibrations at motorway speeds. Mines a Rakeway kit with a quality clutch plate and cover (AP & Helix respectively).

Which kit did you have fitted Sierra?

I'll be ordering a powerslave soon, but I've got a rack of other bits to do too.
 
The LOF Powerslave cylinder makes a huge difference. :D
LR should have fitted such things in the factory as it makes driving the D2 round town so much easier and enjoyable.
 
good to know i have customers that complain of stiff pedal i wasnt aware there was another slave option

I have the LOF updated master cylinder and can hand on heart say I t has transformed my clutch.

there are options for almost all defender and disco models

you have to fit either the master or the slave not both together, and which one you fit depends on that model you are fitting it to. Lots of info on LOF website and Luke is really responsive by phone and email
 
Just bit the bullet and ordered a powerslave - the thing keeping me from doing it until now is the horror of bleeding the D2 clutch.
 
Quick question for anyone else who has fitted one of these Powerslave devices.

I've noticed a couple of times since having mine fitted that I get brief clutch slip under heavy load and acceleration and was wondering if anyone else has noticed anything similar. It doesn't do it all the time though.
I'm hoping it's not the clutch itself as I only replaced it about 2 years ago. :rolleyes:

I have a lof powerspec SMF conversion in my td5 d2 also and no vibrations present at all even at motorway speeds . The clutch and the clutch plate are different to one with a dmf, the plate has a dampening hub to call it that in the centre . Not fitted the Powerslave but it's on my list to do as mine is heavy and if doing a tight 10 point turn in a small gap you know it's a td5 !
 
Just remembered to report back on how the LOF clutch and solid flywheel fitting went.
Can't report any issues with either, compared to the worn out DMF it was a dream to drive.
However, I ended up selling the Disco after nearly 6 years after buying a Gaylander 2.
For the offroad use I was actually doing I decided to sacrifice the D2 for something comfortable to drive with a proper turning circle, lol.
Comfort I forgot existed.
I never got round to fitting the LOF powerslave cylinder so still in box in garage if anyone is interested or needs one.

comfort .... there quite a bit of comfort compared to driving a 200tdi defender from swindon to Manchester and back ! yes the steering lock isn't great !
 
Just fitted a powerslave to my lads Defender td5. Huge difference, as it also had the spring. Very light pedal now, but the bite point is a tad lower. A little adjustment and it should be fine.
 
I think I'll be removing the Powerslave thingy from me Disco because I've been getting too much clutch slip since it was fitted.
 
how does it cause slipping?
I'm not sure but given that it's only started to happen since the Powerslave was fitted I'm thinking that either it or the method of fitting is wrong.
It doesn't do it all the time... it's only going up hills with a heavy foot.
