Just nearly finished this lt230 build and ive used LOCTITE 243 BLUE , i did google 290 and it said it was a medium strength as is the 243 .
Just thought i would check again and ive found that 290 is med/high green .
The 243 looks better suited ie contaminant proof , sealing abilities etc BUT not as strong . HAVE I DROPPED A CLANGER

I'm no expert on picture, so I can't help. But you wouldn't be the first.

My first job in radar after leaving the RAF I had tour 5 bases across the UK with big packs of labels.
By the transposition of two digits the original label specified one of the hardest loctites instead of the softest. I had to go round applying these labels, or leaving packs for those I couldn't access at the time. the cost of the error per unit if someone used the wrong one? About £100,000 as all the heads of the screws would snap off.. as far as I know only three or four got damaged...

When I rebuilt mine I used basically every combination of loctite available as that’s what I had lying around. It’s still fine 3 yr later.

Edit - this is why I’ll never be a proper mechanic but hopefully gives you some reassurance.

I do the same at home and at work, green is my favourite, but whchever bottle I grab first is what I use!

That's good to know , so I'm worrying for nothing . I can relax now and chase the r380 leak . Someone has suggested the selector housing on top of the box , as that's where it appears to be coming from . But who knows with a defender . Cure one leak and find another .
If anyone does know can you remove it without taking half the van to bits .
