Thank you oh great oracles of the Freelander,

My sunroof is now leak free , thank you to everyone who posted. It did need a new sunroof glass. When we removed the old one we found someone had already tried to cover up the rust with hammerite .....thanks to who ever that may have been..............

However, we also discovered there is a locking pin missing missing on one side. When we try and shut the sunroof the pillar on the left side moves into a vertical position instead of remaining at 45 degrees allowing the sunroof to shut. So it sticks up on one side and needs to be manipulated to shut it.

Does anyone know if you can just buy a locking pin ? or does it need a new assembly of some description? Or does anyone have one knocking about somewhere that they would be willing to part with ?

Regards your humble unworthy owner.....

hi

have u heard of microcat which is a parts catalogue and rave, a workshop manual

they are both free as downloads onto a pc

if u do a search on here there are links that u can go to

plus have a look at this link

Freelander - Exploded View - 5 Door Electric Sunroof - Land Rover

fingers crossed will show the bit u need , but may i ask what condition is ur sunroof in

as ive seen people mentioning of the sunroofs leaking etc , ive got a 3 door so mines manual

as if its generally in bad nick may be a good idea to either buy a complete sunroof assembly or look on ebay for a decent second hand one

hope that helps u out

Hi,

My sunroof is now in excellent condition after we replaced the sunroof glass which was all rusty around the edge and some idiot had painted it with hammerite ....no woonder it was leaking when I first got it. It is now dry as a bone sunroof works except for this locking pin ....which orevents it shuttng properly . Thank you for the links I shall explore .
