Any ideas where to get a locking fuel cap for a 1984 '90'? ..i bought one off ebay but its for the later defender...mines the early non-locking huge thing!

Or any folks done a DIY fix...thinking of a lock and latch type :confused:

They never made locking ones for those. I would be looking a a hasp type thing seen on the series fuel caps. cheapest and easiest.

Is your original one damaged?

paddocks sell em, they aint cheap though.

No, originals fine...just wondered if there was a way to get either a lock or a locking cap. I do a lot of miles and generally the tank is full of diesel, just struck me the other day how easy it is to steal or throw something down the filler hose...

Not too bad when i'm at home as i live in the sticks....but when i'm at work or out and about could be a problem...

seem ta rember an old clasp 1 on shelf at andys thought thats it...You could fit the section of pipe and lock cap to the body flex joit from a tdi etc easy enough.Hack slash chop.....

30 bloody quid myn was!! (85 v8), didnt do a locking n as standard. I left it on the side of the pump after my first trip to pertol station.
