Insurance is due on our 2006 Defender.
Best quote so far is with NFU......£600. And the tax is due too which is £480. It would almost have been cheaper to sell the Landy and keep my Ferrari Mondial t as a daily driver as both insurance and tax were half the price lol

Have you tried Adrian Flux, just renewed with them for £190 on an 03 Defender with all Mods etc declared.

have I missed something on Road tax or has it gone up lots on newer defenders ? 92 110 here and I dont think its much more than 180 or so ?

Road tax change near start of 51 to a max of £280 i think and anything newer than 55 can be upto £480?

Im 30 and with Highways, mines £250 a year all mods declared, quite happy with that, not as cheap as my old beetle insurance though (£57.50 a year fully comp and declared)

Just been on to Adrian Flux

£400....but that is with protected NCB and for an extra £60 they can add a "total loss" policy which pays out an extra 25% on top of whatever the insurance agrees if the vehicle is stolen/written off.

So let's say I think our Defender is worth £15,000 as it is immaculate and that's what similar really good ones seem to sell for. Glass's Guide says £11500 though, and after some argument the insurance offers £12,000. The extra policy then pays out £3,000 on top of that so you get a total of £15,000.

Worth having for peace of mind I think, just in case the worst should happen.
