business's are fragile things with the tax man, landlords ,banks etc hovering like vultures ready to kill you off

killed off the company i worked for, for 40 years on and off.
was a succesful aerospace production company - airbus & rollsroyce flying parts.
was heavily investing in newer bigger plant to cope with the then new A380 airbus.
ran 24/7 never shut, except for a few days over christmas, but took ages to get the plant up to operating temperatures for the very fine limit stuff that we made.

but then, we were like so many others in the same position.
now 11/12 years later, it would never have happened.....

but then I would have "expired" through hard work.....:p

Had the misfortune to have my Defender rebuilt by Liveridge in May 2013, looked great, catalogue of problems to long to list, in fairness all fixed within warranty. Since they went bust I have had to spend and additional £1000 to replace fuel tank, axle hubs, drive flange, incorrect oil and additional faulty wiring. Feel sorry for the staff, but the company got what they deserved, just unfortunate that it could happen again.

New company is called ASTWOOD BANK LANDROVERS

Think that's a bit of a statement there. You putting a warning to them to watch out. Land rovers go wrong all the time, don't like it buy a BMW.

Having had one for a number of years, I'm well aware of their idiosyncrasies. However, what I was describing were simple negligent acts. Since the last post I have had to have new top of engine curtesy of shredded cambelt (due to incorrect bracket on fuel pump) I have had to have a new fuel tank (baffles broke off after 12 months) and finally this week a new gearbox and transfer box, as the transfer box fitted by Liveridge was an old disco one without drilled gears, so no oil and welded itself to the main gearbox shaft. All docmented and verifiable with my garage. So after they went bust, I am down about £5,000. At least better than another supplier to them who lost considerably more!

If you asked them to fit a second hand gearbox it's hardly their fault.
Surely that's always going to be a risk you're running when using second hand parts.
