I think I've a slight leak between my exhaust manifold and the head on my TD5. I already had the exhaust manifold skimmed last year and it has been fine for months, but it's developed an annoying squealing noise under heavy load, and I think it may be coming from the gasket.

Has anyone used any of the liquid gaskets / sealants, such as this one?

If so, how did it work out for you?

Only ever used gungum exhaust putty
I can't imagine that stuff in the link would be suitable for high temperatures

Shirly .... if the manifold has been skimmed and the ports are flat then a good quality gasket and correctly torqued flange nuts would hold together enough to be gas tight ?
I had a squeal (under load) after i'd fitted my new turbo - it turned out to be the hose feeding the intercooler, pushed it on an extra 1/2 inch, fitted a broader clamp and all has been fine.

Another thought would be a fire resistant silicone rated to 1200 degrees or so, such as this

Of course, if my manifold has warped again, I'll get it skimmed again, but if not, I am definitely temped to try something like this out (I know it's not the proper way to do it...)

For get all the high temp silicones, ive been using gungum for 20odd years tried n tested
defo use a proper exhaust assembly paste.
