A friend has an 05 d3 tdv6 manual, It keeps going into limp mode when he tows his caravan ( it is a large heavy one) usually when he goes up a long incline. Would a diagnostics pick up the problem or has anyone any ideas.
Thanks

hi and welcome

more often than not its the turbo actuator arm sticking , may need freeing up and grease adding , is tight gaining access to it , via the passenger side , there's a u tube video in how to free them off

also take out the map sensor and ensure it's cleaned out

when it goes into limp mode it will log a fault code which a diagnostic reader will display, as it's best to get them read first before investigating , as the codes with indicate what's going on

hope that helps abit

Mine did this. Was the turbo actuator. I free'd it off and not had a problem since.

mine was sticking then found out mine didn't have the software update , so now everytime i turn the ign on and off it will cycle the actuator arm open and closed

still got to get in there and grease it up and also replace the intercooler hoses with silicone ones
