Hiya mate, yes, did order 2 noo tyres but upped the order to 4 matched tyres now,Welcome back Easye1. If ya need noo fronts on a hippo put the noo boots on the back and shift the rears to the front.
To be honest I was supposed to buy a very nice (aint they all) TD5 but being jet washed to death underneath showing all its swiss cheese chassis, but I "can weld" (3 door disco owner for 10 years) but the guy was faffing me about saying the buy it now button was not supposed to be on EBAY, so, on the way home saw this hippo local, not the other end of the world, hour later It was mine..Welcome back to the forum

Sounds like it hasn't got props when you bought it. Sometimes its because the support bearings got noisy, sometimes because the VCU was beginning to get tight. Often though it was due to damage cos the VCU got 2 tight, or the car was running mismatched tyres with same result. If there is damage to the IRD - you will be wasting your money, unless you want to spend more good money on an IRD.
There were a couple of thread a while back on the Freelander forum about how, if and consequences of reinstalling props.
You might like to have a search for them or start a thread in the Freelander section.
Indeed GEL, no prop on purchase, but 4 all different tyres on it.. 4 already paid for, just waiting to sort out the rest of my "must do bits" before I go and get them fitted..You want to be careful doing that.

Checking the oil in the IRD/diff is a good start, metalicy looking and its got problems. Loosen the fill plug before the drain plug - the fill plug can be a right bugger to get off - made of cheese.Indeed

Have yet to check on my output flange for problems or my diff for problems..

I don’t care who you upset, I’ve done my fair share of that if warranted. I too am inquisitive
