had a bit of a lull over the last 2 weeks so knocked things up a notch, all the new shiny bits arrived... rdx bonnet, custom intercooler, lots of shiny silicone, polished tubing, crystal headlamps, HIDS and new grill n surrounds so this evening saw me....
fit the new RAGE grill ... definitely the right choice :)

remove the trial fitted flip front.....

drill and bolt down the rdx bonnet to the wings....

then trial fit the top mounted intercooler (hence the RDX bonnet with air scoop) suburu / mini cooper s 'stylee' :)

just need to fabricate brackets to sit it at 45 degrees and maximise the air flow....

gotta make the intercooler brackets yet so a little more fettling..... rattle cans using plastikote, fantastic self levelling paint that drys with a really good shine in conditions that would ruin most paint jobs .... bit difficult to show but.......

fair enough, where are you buying it from? always about a tenner or more for a can around here. cheapest i've seen is 9 for the 500ml

ebay .. bought loads from a company called folkstone fixings which at the time was £4 a can for the big ones, and over the last 2 years I keep watching and as soon as someone is selling some cheap I snap it up

good thing with a decent make is they stick to the RAL chart so you will get the same colour again and again....

just bought 10 x satin black for £52 incl postage ... it is out there if your not in a rush, b&q and homebase have been £10 + for a few years :0

ah very nice!

Thanks for the pics for the hood to be flipped. A great idea. One pic didn't work. One question I ask. U know the wings. At the bottom. Won't it catch the bulk head when tipped over or have u moved it slightly out space gap ?

came across supadec spray paint in the tratter shop.. looks similiar to plastikote but it's only a few quid for 400ml.. wonder if it's anygood for el cheapo rattle finish

Loving the tipping front end. How are you planning on keeping the wing sides from flapping around? Spitfire catches onto the footwells?

DSC00326.jpg

The wings are close but don't catch on tipping as the pivot point is about as low as you can get... more luck than judgment I think lol.. yep similar catches on order that will pull tight to the bulkhead and have built in locks :)

Cheers Steve

may be.. plasticote is a tekaloid that self levels really well, especially if you remove panels and can spray flat

also used it on my 90 a few years ago.....
