hi all i need some advice please :) i have just replaced the cam in my disco for a real steel cyclone cam at the same time have also replaced the following lifters push rods rockers rocker shafts springs and lapped the valves.
so put it all back together (with no left over parts:D lol) and started her up fires up on the third attempt. the noise from the rockers on the near side bamk sounds like a tractor .run it for a few mins and waited to see if they quieten down as the oil fills them, still getting a niose from the back set of rockers so take off the cover and rocker shaft remove the push rods and then proceed to check the lifters buy using a spare push rod seven of them have no movement as you push down on them the eight has about a 1/8th or more movement as you push down
so am i thinking that this lifter is buggerd? even when new the lifters should not have any movement on them even with out the oil ? any thoughts as i am thinking that i will need to remove intake manifold and valley gasket and replace this one OR do i put her back together and hope that it will fill and quieten down? cheers guys

they are from a well known landrover parts seller in south london i know that they use a lot of britpart spares as well as bermarch they were in sealed packs but with no manafuctures details:mad:

standard dealer followers are the best only ones i use!
also sounds like you have not followed the cam run in procedure which could invalidate the warranty and it does take atleast 10 min of running to bleed up.
i always prefill mine when rebuilding the engine

they were soaked for 24 hours in oil as usual and as it should be what would you class as run in procedure? cheers

well on the piper cams i use it is run in at 2-3,000 rpm for 20 min to bed the cam in if this is not done it can cause follower and cam issues

that is the same thought here and was the way we were going just when the rattle got that loud the thought was that something was wrong so do you thing that running it for 20 mins will help? cheers again
