wonder if anyone can help!
Just recently replaced the lift fuel pump in my 19J engine (1987 LR) .. let the engine run for a while and then it seemed to be getting air in somewhere and stopped Cannot seem to locate or fathom why. The lift pump is a new style

Also the prone lever has no resistance to it. Should it be so loose?? ... any help would be great!

Prone lever?

You can get air leaks in but not a dribble of diesel out.

Re check the joints, new copper washers and olives usually solve the issue, did you seal any joints with Ptfe tape, don't as it draws air.

Thanks sorry about the spelling I mean prime leaver as just fitted the aftermarket lift pump hoping it will solve the fuel issue

If you've bought a britpart lift pump, throw it in the bin and buy a decent branded one like Delphi, then start again otherwise you will end up stranded shortly. The injection pump on these is not self bleeding, so you need to bleed all the air from the system. Easiest way is to open the bleed valve at the filter and pumpuntil fuel without bubbles appears, then close. Then open one of the injectors and run until bubbles clear. Personally, I've always just opened one of the injectors and ran the starter until it's going again.
