Hi chaps

Got a '92 Defender 90 (van type, single cab with no rear windows) and living as near to the LEZ as I do I really could do with it being allowed in without paying £100 (!!) a day.

Assume others here have got compliance, can anyone talk me through it ? Is it likely to be a problem for me at all ?

sorry that is all I can say. As it appears to be a minefield and normally means not being able to change it from what i have seen. has been asked here before , suggest you try a search for more info.
Silly government rules really, 90 station wagon county and a 90 van, you have to ask why they are treated different, when they can have the same engine, gearbox etc.

I live very close to the LEZ, and it took me a while and some searching to get a 110 that would go in without paying.

It seems to be related to how the vehicle is registered with DVLA on the V5C. I couldn't find any definitive details on how to change the information TFL have about a vehicle, or anyone that had done it on a Landy.

look at your vin the 7th letter needs to be a "B" with a 90 or an "M" with a 110 , and in the log book (V5) it needs to say estate , not utility . If the first doesn't apply its very difficult to get the second if its not already listed as such.

My 90 county has the correct B in the VIN, but is listed as a 'light 4x4 utility'. LEZ checker says it's not subject to LEZ restrictions. People have been successful before with conversions and wrongly-identified vehicles but it's a bit of a minefield.
 
There is a small write up in this months LRM in Richard Halls Norfolk Garage section about a vehicle retrofitted with a DPF. I know people with motorgomes who live inside the LEZ and they are not cheap to get fitted and have to be inspected yearly There is info on the Transport for London (TFL) website about companies that will fit them
 
been there seen.it didnt do it.
basically you can have a dpf fitted but only an approved type fitted by an approved company then you need on top of you mot an annual vosa smoke test last time i checked about £100. there would also be an over lap between vosa doing the test n the computer being updatrd so you would need to pay the daily fine until the records were updated.

needless to say i sold my company van and bought a lez compliant 1. when thats no longer compliant im going sell up and sign on no point any longer working hard n paying my taxes. oh maybe i should get a vw?
 
I think I'll just steer clear of the LEZ - I don't foresee there being any real need to take it inside the zone, so it isn't the end of the world. Just bloody annoying really.

You can steer clear of London but pretty soon the LEZ will spread and cities the length of the UK will jump on the bandwagon.

Because we live so dam close it's slowly coming to us.

There's a G plate 90 down my road, it's not moved for a few years but still looks to be in good nick, if it wasn't for the LEZ I'd be knocking on his door.
 
Heathrow area is where I'm originally from and where I'd be going if it was allowed in !
 
Lez is any where inside the m25 I plan on moving away in the future we get fecked for everything london they are introducing an ulez as well which will include motor bikes which are emissions exempt at not time
 
Just did a search on that and TfL's website doesn't appear to have a list of what kind of vehicles will meet the new reg's....
 
I'm inside the M25, but the LEZ is the other side of Heathrow to me, however the workshop where I make my biodiesel is inside the LEZ.
 
Woo Hoo my 110 is a M in the log book. Now to try and get it changed from a 4 x 4 utility to the CSW it is. Wish me luck.
