Hi

Sorry if this has been covered... but it seems that the LEZ checker is now showing defender 110 CSW as compliant to the Low emission zone in London..

I checked some weeks ago and it was showing as non-compliant and now shows as not subject to LEZ charge...

Have they re-classified the CSW's (although still listed on the V5 as a 4x4 light utility)?

Have others seen a change for their defenders? For the record mine is a 94 110 CSW

Hello

My 90 is now compliant, but this is because I have just changed the body type to 'Estate'. It took four attempts with the DVLA, photographs, letters from the dealer and manufacturer. My new V5C form came through on Monday and TFL changed the status the following day. Which is nice!

Hey..

maybe it was done at the same time s the re-classified all SW defenders?

are you saying that you changed your V5C but didnt contact TFl to have it changed?

it was my understanding that you had to get a letter from manufacturer, change V5 via DVLA then contact TFL and beg/plead for them to make you exempt.

Not that any of this matters it seems for CSW owners now... I got to the point where i have my letter to confirm its an estate - was about to contact DVLA to change my V5 - but hey.. presto... its all happy days!

any one else have any feedback on this?

Thats right. I contacted the DVLA directly to change the form, but at the same time send TFL everything. Once the form came through I called TFL, they rechecked their system and confirmed the body type was now exempt. They changed the online details whilst I was on the phone.

It was before Barmy Boris' time that that the LEZ was born but still run the gormless **** over anyhow. If you can get Red Ken at the same time then all the better.

TFL link to the DVLA database for their info so technically there was no need to let them know as it should have been automatic once the DVLA made the changes. Mine changed from non-compliant to compliant on the TFL LEZ web site two days after the DVLA changed the body type to "Estate".

Well said - madness to introduce this further tax on so many smaller businesses, let alone private individuals

Truly pleased for the CSW owners, but remains madness that the same engine in a cab or pick up variant is not exempt :mad2:

Has anyone worked out which is the cheapest filter to fit that 'qualifies' and had the work done yet?

Fortunately this particular brand of madness has not worked its way North yet, but curious as I guess it might. That said the congestion charge in Edinburgh never made it!

I suppose my point is that people seem to no longer have to change the CSW to an estate on the V5 to make it exempt of the LEZ charge.

from other posts i had read.. it would appear that the TFL had done a data dump of DVLA records some time ago and they werent "linked" as such therefore when people were changing their car to an estate on the V5 - they then had to go and convince the TFL to change the status..

anyways... as said before.. this is good news for CSW drivers who havent made the amendment yet (although maybe worth doing for later on down the line in any case?) - i did some checking on other 110 CSW's and they seem to be all showing up as exempt... obviously hardtops are still a problem.

Interesting... I've been trying to get the V5C for my '94 110 CSW changed to Estate but need a letter from LR but the TFL website is now saying it's exempt so looks like I won't have to faff with the DVLA.

Although I was quite prepared not to take the 110 into London from 2012 the family does have a house there and it's damn useful for shifting stuff in and out given it's size.
