Fill the coolant up when the engine is cold to the max level. Put the reservoir cap on. Don't run it with the cap oft. When the coolant gets hot (when it's running) the coolant will eggspand, creating pressure int cooling system. It may be yer dun't get a good enough leak without the build up of pressure, which will help force the coolant out of the leak hole.

Thats what i did this morning. turned it off, Started leaking about an hour later from back of the engine (pic added earlier)
 
If you noticed water dripping from behind the LH front wheel? Then it's definitely the AC evaporator drain dripping off the accumulated water from it and is completely normal.
That's what it is... was 'clean' water not red coolant.
 
Well... I'm done... been on this all day and nothing... had it up on ramps, removed the belly pan.... nothing!!! Looked at the engine from every possible angle. Had it running hot... left it too cool down. The coolant level is in exactly the same place as it was this morning when I filled it... no water/coolant from anywhere, total mystery!
 
IF you have an elusive drop in coolant, then it may behove you to buy some UV fluid and a blacklight, you can get it on the bay for a tenner or so..

But first keep an eye on the levels and see what it does.

Well I hope your right and now it' topped up it'l go on for years! I'm just gonna leave it and keep an eye on it

If there's cracking around the pressure cap, then coolant will slowly evaporate off. So it's possible that the coolant could have been low, if the previous owner never lifted the bonnet.
 
Unlikely, but maybe the heater matrix, have you checked the carpets for dampness?

I checked every inch of carpet possible before I took it off the blokes drive. Nothing... The coolant is still the same level it was yesterday so I'll just keep checking the level and feeling the carpets! Lol
 
Thanks Guys. Im gonna see if i can get it booked in at the garage and get the other main 'issue' looked at, the noise from the rear when reversing, its not an horrendous noise but its gonna niggle me if i dont get it checked given all that ive read about the VCU/ IRD and Diffs.
