Hello, I have split charging system on my 90 with 2 car type batteries fitted. I want to use the second battery for a work light, charging camera equipment, GPS, phones etc. I have a spare leisure battery that is currently redundant, is it worth fitting this or leaving the normal car battery in place, is there any benefit to the leisure battery please?

Lesuire batterys are for extended draw applications such as caravans where they aren't always under charge. With the small number of items you noted which will be fairly small might not be worth the bother.

But on the other hand the lesuire battery is a better option for longevity. Car batterys are designed for short duration large draw - start up and then to be maintained by the alternator.

That's my take on it.

For that sort of draw suspect the set up you have will be fine, but then replacing with spare leisure battery would do no harm either

Thanks BenPalmer and Station house, really appreciate the advice. I am doing a test run for 5 days up the west Coast of Scotland so will give it a test on that. Thanks gain
