Has anyone had experience of a left hand drive TD5? Just wondered what you thought if it and if you get used to driving it? Are the parts more exoensive and harder to find and is insurance more?
 
worked for 20 years as a tester driving jaguars mainly l/h/d cars once you get use to them you do not notice weather they are l/h/d or r/h/d with the higher driving position of the landy I would think it would be even easier

I have a 2003 LHD D2 TD5 and its brilliant! As well as the usual D2 gripes it is the same as an RHD. I get all my spare parts from the same websites e.g. paddocks, island 4x4, etc.
 
I have no issues wit the lhd disco either, or my lhd ****ron or the wifes lhd thingymabob in fact its them buggers with the wheel on the other side that are strange.

But RHD is cheaper to buy, at least that was the case when I bought my P38:)

+1 on that! Its funny, years ago LHD cars in the UK were cheaper, now they fetch a premium.

Bit of turnaround, cars in the UK are very often cheaper than mainland, certainly in Estonia cars are silly money and dealers (most of whom only open weekdays!) will not haggle at all!

As for LHD, not really worth driving if your spending most time in UK.

I drive 50% of the time LHD, no problems apart from very occasionally trying to change gear with the door handle! Funny thing is that RHD (driving on the left) feels wrong now!!
 
I've had an american car for some years - you soon get used to it - a couple of short drives maybe.

You need very long arms and very long legs, I couldn't do it being 5ft 3" but I'm sure somebody 6ft 6" could reach :D

Seriously though, once you've driven a left hooker it's more of a problem going back to right hand drive, seems more natural to change gear with the right hand. As for spares, same as right hand drive :)
 
i drive both lhd/rhd cars with no issues
you get used to it in few minutes and do not notice which side you are until you have to pay at the tolls...
 
I've driven plenty of left-handers at work. Once you're used to the difference in perspective there's very little difference between left and right. Only thing is to adapt for the different visibility compared to RHD. Overtaking lorries etc you have to sit further back to get the same viewing angle past it, though of course you do get a much better view up the left side of it.

Once you're actually sat in the driver's seat, it's quite natural to drive, partly due to there being a door to your left side and an open space to your right. IME attempting to change gear with the door handle etc just doesn't really occur.
 
I don't think I have ever driven a Napoleon drive vehicle. It must be weird having a steering wheel in the front passenger seat.

It's a bit strange for the first 10 mins or so, but it soon becomes fairly natural. Far stranger is being a passenger in a LHD as you find yourself looking at the rear-view mirrors and seeing strange things due to the angle.
