hi guys can anyone tell me what led bulbs i need for the dash back lights and also the display in the middle that gives all the warnings as 1 side is blown also can i change the colour to blue if i buy blue leds or does it not work like that . i am also going to give it a LEd light upgrade for the side lights and indicators now the web site i am looking on lists 2 types a normal and a can bus compliant one which do i need

thanks Paul

You can mount blue LEDs into the dash bulbholders but they don't give the same spread of light as a bulb so only lights the bit straight in front of it.
As for the sides and indicators you need the canbus type unless you want bulb failure warnings.

thanks for that i will just stick bulbs in the dash then was only thinking of LEDs due to the longer life and dont want to be taking dash out again. i was also going to fit HID headlights which should be legal as it has headlight washers and self adjusting suspension but again will they need to be special canbus . the kit i have found is £148 and it says on there web site its correct for my car but no mention if its canbus or not

Xenon's still won't be legal as you also need projector type lenses which you don't have

Fitting them to the H1 will then will stop you from flashing your headlights as they take a few seconds to warm up

Not very good for quicky changing from high to low beam either

Hence why they don't fit them to the High beams
They have a flap on the lense instead that moves to create the high beam

i have HID lights in my company car and they are fantastic boss has them in his as well and again brilliant but one of the other guys as halogens and its like driving without lights by comparison so i think i will fit the kit they recommend they also say the h1 kit is instant light and they do 25 LEd h1 bulbs as well maybe worth calling them to see what they say

know what you mean mate, xenon is much brighter in comparison ! worse when they are dazzling you

another driver for me to " F " and "blind" at as they drive past you with their aftermarket xenon kit fitted
:D

So you want to be an obnoxious hunt then? Your headlight casing isn't designed for HIDs, all you'll do is blind every ####er on the road. Standard fit HIDs are bad enough. Only a cockbag will retrofit them.

It isn't just your viability, it is the driver coming the other way who will end up blind and due to an interesting feature with humans will end up steering towards oncoming traffic. So now you can get a good view of the head-on you've just caused. Bravo.

But I'm sure you don't give a ****, as long as it looks cool and you can see, why give a **** about other road users, right?

i just flip my full beams on back at them !

so more dangerous for both users i guess

Some points well made there. It's also not good enough to claim that the self levelling suspension will keep them from blinding oncoming. Factory fitted cars have levelling lights as well as the suspension. Just watch any car with factory lights when they switch them on, they will do a little dance on Start up.

its not really the leveling that is the problem, its the lenses.

standard lenses, especially glass ones with a xenon kit fitted flood the road with light everywhere ! whereas the projector lens emits a controlled beam in the right place on the right side of the road ! lol

you can spot a aftermarket xenon kit from miles off

For sure. I am just making the point that a requirement of having xenon lamps is having self levelling. A lot of modders use the excuse that the car is self levelling where as it needs to be the lights - oh and don't forget the wash as well.

ok how about you read the add for the bulbs i listed they are safe and wont dazzle they are sheilded with a metal sheild look at the pictures

My old memory has just stumbled into action. Wasn't somebody on here selling these? Hang on a bit whilst I dredge through the sludge in my head, there could be a discount here. Now, who was it?

O.K. I might be wrong but I thought that VILGUY certainly used to deal in these. A PM might be worth a punt. I know that he's moved and is getting married (plonker) so might have changed his line of work but . . . .

The 25 LED bulbs are a waste of time IMO. You need high power CREE XL M LED's to be effective and they are not yet available for the after market retro fit although they are now appearing as standard on SEAT's of all things.
