You will be happy with those, and they have a excellent return policy, <£60 are crap. They have come a long way, I remember trying some of the first LED H4, jeeesus. I have same type of thing in the Dominator and cowl fogs on my GoldWing.

The price is ok and as I need to replace my lights anyway I can stomach it but dont want to buy something with poor beam definition etc. Anyone got them or something of a similar price? I cant afford the expensive ones.

I have these and they’re great just remember you need a different dim/dip for led. They were a lot dearer when I got mine

Only slight issue is that they are not road legal in the UK

They are E marked etc our mot place had a good look at them and said they’re fine?

It's not been much of an issue so far but correct headlights have been specifically mentioned in the new MOT regs that come in May.

If they're not marked E11 they will be a likely fail in 2 months
 
Well the main thing is for me that they must be safe for me and other road users. I don't want to be a pain for drivers coming the other way. The thing is I can buy a set of led spots for next to nothing and the proper headlamps from the well know makers are extortionately priced!
 
I like the original ones, male sure the wiring is good and you have good volts at the light , fit a boomslang if needed. Plus decent bulbs.

Then you can always fit a set of driving lights as well.

Works for me.

What is need is a genuine APPROVAL mark. There is no such thing as an E mark for headlights!

A genuine approval mark consists of several elements

Country Code which has done the approval E + number in a circle

Amendment or regulation number

Actual approval number

Marking for LHT

Light Function code

PL

Peak beam reference number

etc etc.

Those headlights referred to above are NOT road legal in the UK as it is NOT a genuine approval mark.

If a headlight is marked DOT SAE and European country code it is NOT road legal in the UK.



Anybody who claims a headlight is DOT approved are wrong as DOT do NOT approve headlights.

Neither do UNECE approve headlights.

Both UNECE and DOT are regulatory bodies and are not approval bodies.

I'm happy to be corrected.

What I'm not happy about is members shelling out only to find they fail an MOT.
 
I bought the same ones as in the original post from SP4x4 18 months ago who assured me at the time, and again yesterday, of their legality. I've just checked what they actually have on them and they have:

"DOT SAE"
"E9"
"HCR-PL-E9"
"00 1062"

I've no idea what any of that means, seemed good enough for our MOT place (at the moment). E9 appears to be Spain.

I wouldn't know where to look for the regulations and subsequent guidance documents. I've not heard about UK law requiring filament bulbs.

There doesn't appear to be anything in the MOT manual regarding markings on lights, just the alignment and pattern of the light source on "European Type" headlights:


European Type (Checked on dipped beam)


Characteristics:

(a) an asymmetric dipped beam pattern with:

 a distinctive horizontal cut-off on the right, and

 a visible wedge of light above the horizontal (the ‘Kick up’) towards the left

(b) a lens may carry a European approval mark

Td5 bowls, Wipac Crystal Lights, cheap, easy to change bulbs. No worries.

+1 perfectly fine.

LEDs arnt a gimmic though they are leaps and bounds above any previous lighting systems before. Shame the design for fenders makes em look like a shoddy '00s bmw. Bar the trucklites i think? Look oem but are LEDs
