A few months ago I fitted a set of slightly used rear leaf springs to my series 3 SWB. The ones that were fitted when I got it were badly rusted between the leaves and were too far gone to re-use. The vehicle leaned at the back by around 1 1/2" to the driver's side

I found a set of rear springs on ebay that seemed to be fairly new. They had the right part numbers printed on them for which side they should be on. I fitted these and that seemed to ciorrect the lean for a while.

However, in the last week or so since I got the brakes sorted and have driven it again, it is leaning again. This is to the same side and by the same amount as it was before. I don't understand why this has happened as it was alright for a while.

Don't they all lean that way? I've followed a few and they have the same angle of dangle as mine (which has new parabolics).

Hi had same issue it was leaning to the drivers side, all my springs had collapsed so found a used set from a mate stripped and rebuilt them refitted and it solved the problem, i thought. took it out in the field then parked up again and the lean came back, from what ive read it should lean to the passenger side not drivers so that when full of fuel and driver it is level ish. not sure what it is?

I may try swapping the springs and see what that does. As they are aftermarket parts, perhaps the opposite part numbers got printed on them. This would mean that the weaker spring is fitted on the driver's side.

I tried advice from here and gave the springs a good coating of grease thinned with petrol. I wrapped tinfoil around them to keep it in and keep road dirt from sticking to it.

I had a look at the front spring hangers and they seem fine.

This seems to have improved the problem slightly. I will be driving along with it fairly level, then go over a bump and it will drop and stay. When I go over another bump further on it will go back into place. It is not much but it is definitely noticable.

With someone in the passenger seat it is fine as the weight is on both sides. Maybe I'll have to put some sand bags on the driver's seat. ;)

The driver's side spring does seem to be flatter than the other. This is even with no one sitting in the vehicle and the fuel tank nearly empty. Myabe it's just a crappy set of springs.

Are 110 springs the same dimensions as 88 springs?

Would fitting a set of stiffer 110 springs be any problem other than making the ride a bit more bumpy?

the camber on the drivers side springs is tighter to compensate for the weight of the driver and the fuel tank that is constant. My two a does the same it bugs the life out of me. I replaced the springs as they were really bad but I also have the front to replace to see if this corrects the way it sits.. Also check that the brake pipe shield plate is still fitted as this will cause a slight lean if missing. failing all these things the last resorts that I will try are to further pack the axle from the spring with some metal plate or to get longer shacke plates made for the driver side Which will have the effect of lifting the chassis from the spring. Let me know how toy get on.
