Just bought a 2003 freelander, looked really nice with no mechanical problems. But 2 days later I retract the sunroof and notice 2 big patches of rust on the frame of it at the front. It rained really heavily last night and I noticed he roof liner getting wet in one corner.
I will replace the whole sunroof when I find one, but could anyone suggest a temporary fix? I could dreamily it back and fill it in for now, and check the outside seals.

Any help would be appreciated.

Private sale, just getting the silicone and dremil out now. I will replace the whole frame when I find one.

Also, just done an intro post.

Cheers,
Warren.

Normal to rust in the front corners ( mine was ) .
6 torks screws and you can remove glass frame .
Check the drainage holes at front corners & pour some water down which should come out under front wheel arch , Was your car facing up hill as mine will leak & make the head lining wet if facing up hill ?

You can rubdown / repaint with black hammerite if not to bad ?
Im going to use silicon grease to seal mine over winter .

Not sure if you will find a good second hand replacement as most will be just as rusty !

I used some fablon to seal mine over the winter weather, took it off during the summer. Not as messy as silicone ;)

Managed to pick up a near perfect one on eBay for £80 fitted it at the weekend, and it's fixed the leak.

Waz. Did you get the whole sunroof system from ebay, motor, runners, glass etc as I am also looking for a replacement as mine wont wind back. Was it easy to replace? msg me on 07900698172 if you don't mind.

Cheers

Dave.

they are easy to replace just take out all the head lining and the centre bar undo the drain pipes front and back then undo all the nuts and gently lower down .I found when I took of the head lining just have the back door open and pull it out and then it is in the clear
