Hiya people, i have a 200tdi in my defender..... the problem im havin is that on one of the litle fuel lines running between my injectors it is leaking fuel fairly badly. Its not a crappy pipe because ive put a new bit in and its actualy coming out around the end of the pipe. its been doin it for a while now and i think its gettin worse as my fuel consumption is up. and also the lasr couple of days im gettin a big cloud of black smoke on start up and shes down on power once i get up about 50-60mph my acceleration is crap compared to normalnormal (not sure if the smoke and loss of power are a completely seperate issue though. as thats only been the last few days)

Thanks in advance guys.. hope you all good

Might have a split in the metal pipe.

Need to fix it or you will have bad starting and as you say use excess fuel.
Might get a replacement pipe on here to screw on:)

Cheers mate hadnt actualy comsidered that. ill have a look tonight, i hope it is that because the only other thing i can think of it being is some kind of blockage within the injector n i dont realy fancy gettin into takeon that apart

The amount of times mine has developed a consistent black smoke cloud is ridiculous, most of the time it was a split in the turbo-fuel pump vacuum line. As far as I know, because the fuel pump is getting no pressure from the turbo, it gets 'confused' and tries to compensate by pumping loads of fuel into the engine, causing black smoke (black smoke is usually wasted fuel) Check the vacuum pipe as well, that could be part of the problem, if it is, it's a easy job :)

check the bolt that goes through the banjo at the end of the fuel line where it goes onto injector itself. These bolts have a hole through them and I have had the head shear off. Typically they crack and leak diesel for a while before failing. I had one go recently and had a diesel leak, smoke and poor MPG before I replaced the bolt.

One of mine was leaking badly and when I checked the banjo bolt was missing. I looked down the erngine bay and found it what luck. You may have a leak because your copper washer is not on the right way or not there at all. The copper washer needs to be next to the bold head and not on the other side of the babjo like I did the first time.

Just as well you said that as I have just checked my other ones and your right. Looks like I need to get another washer :frusty:

cheers guys for all the replys, ive checked these things and its all ok.... i think ive actualy traced the leak to be comeing from between the injector and block...........bit stupid realy but ive just started another thread explaing this if any1 fancys havin a look

cheers
