Hi,
I have a leak in the pipe which makes my clutch work. It is about half way down the pipe and the kind cornish recovery men who picked me up on the side of the A39 managed to patch it with a piece of hose and a couple of clips. The patch job managed to get me back to london but it is on it's way out again now.

I have a friend who can fit the new unit for me in a couple of weeks time but until then I don't want to pay £200 for a garage to replace it for me (annoyingly it comes as a whole unit in the 1.8 petrol so it's not just a case of replacing the pipe).

Does anyone know of any sealants or glues that may work to seal the hole for the next week or 2?? I can't keep driving with half a clutch or I will knaker it even more!

Help would be much appreciated!

If you can get it clean & dry which will be your biggest problem you could try Davids Isopon P40 glassfibre filler (available from Halfords) which will cover your pipe thickly & set rock hard in about five minutes if mixed properly or even quick drying araldite which will also set in about the same time though I'm not sure how strong the quick drying stuff is. You really would need to try to stop it seeping somehow to allow whatever you use the five minutes to set, but it's worth trying as a very temporary measure.

Thanks guys! I did manage to patch it temporarily enough to get me home but there was another large puddle under the car this morning so I have to bite the bullet and buy the master cylinder part :-(. Luckily I found it from partsfinder.com for £36.

Happy freelandering...
