hi everyone, quick question, looks like I have a leaking oil cooler, would this potentially cause my V6 to overheat?

Thanks

Oil leak is really bad for the engine internal, pressure can drop and some parts could be damaged ....so stop the leak if you want to save the engine !

Hi Tony, yeah I've got another one on order, was just wondering if this could be the cause for my overheating issue?

After about 10 minutes, the expansion tank starts to boil over ! I've bled the system to the letter too (a few times) ! Also changed the thermostat (confirmed as working), various hoses, the expansion tank and cap (both pressure tested), temp sensors !

No idea what else it could be?

If water pump works correctly you should see in expansion tank a good flow when accelerate flows through the expansion pipes to the expansion tank....

The v6 has 2 bleed screws. Have you got air out of both? Boiling would make me think it's not building up pressure. Do the hoses stiffen up when hot?

Thanks... I did get air out of both but I've had to drain it again as I discovered a leaking O ring on the Thermostat Elbow pipe (that was the strange "squelch" Hippo in one of my earlier posts)... Could be why it wasn't building up pressure? Wasn't a big leak at all though !!!

As for the hoses, the Top Rad hose stiffens and is very hot, as for the bottom hose, although does stiffen up, doesn't really get warm at all.....
