I have a P38A DHSE and have a oil leak which leaves a small patch on the ground overnight. It is a clear oil like caster oil .. Not diesel, Not engine Not power steering or gearbox oil. The source is difficult to locate it is lightly smeared on the flexible hose from the gearbox and is also on engine sump. The garage mechanic has been unable to find the source but has found that the viscose fan needs replacing and has quite a bit of play .. could it be the damping oil? This leak is very small but a bit of a puzzle. Someone suggested the steering damper? The oil deposits on parts of the engine are probably blow back from the front end.

Any suggestions to find the leak would be welcome.

If it's clear and fairly thin, it's probably from the AC compressor.

Try and have a look closely at that.

Got a new viscose fan fitted and no leaks from the old fan. Its not brake fluid and there are no leaks from the AC pump. The Steering damper is probably the most likely candidate for the leak. Will check that next. Any other ideas?
