Hi All.
this is a simple one.

after axle rebuild, fill up with oil and it comes straight out through the dowel alignment hole!
So.
Do it need to take apart and fix or can I plug the hole with a metal dowel and some gasket sealer?

thanks.

which hole is that and where

yep..
going to sort a dowell and tap into place with some helps of some halomar or similar..

Just put a new Rover diff in the back of my SWB Series 3 yesterday, don't remember any dowel holes in either the axle or the diff casting, is this a Salisbury axle?

I think you might be better off removing the differential and fixing the entire joint. In my experience leaking from the little bit fixes tend not to last.

They are on my series 2a (standard Rover axles and differentials)

So. The dowel is indeed missing. Put a screwdriver in and it goes through.
Can get dowel from DLR so will put that in with some black RTV and job should be good.
Many thanks.
