,crank or cam seal id think,if its much more than the odd drip you will want to get it fixed
yesThanks for your reply. Will I need to remove the timing belt to change the seals...Tony
Thanks hifly I will check it as soon as the old back lets me..I knew it would be down to the bio....Tony...:flame2:
if you are running bio then its most likely the front seal on the ip,
just a note of caution, don't remove the drive plate without locking the pump at the timing position as the plate is not keyed to the shaft.
Do I have to set the engine to TDC when removing the IP Thanks
you can remove the pump without removing the belt but as its contaminated with bio i would suggest its time for a new belt.
what are your plans for replacing the seal?
Try phoning round specialist diesel engineers in the area, I went to one in Fife and they only wanted £20 for supplying and fitting the seal.
John
that's a good deal, i was quoted £65 just to re-time my pump.
Seals can be bought from diesel bob.
if you are going to do it your self make sure you lock the pump shaft at tdc before you remove the flange as its not keyed to the shaft.
is it a fly by wire pump? if it is you may not be able to lock the shaft as its not got the same locking bolt the manual pumps have so best to get it done professionally.
