Hi All

I hope you can help. I have a Carburettor 32/34 DMTL Weber - 2.5 litre 4 cylinder petrol engine defender.
When I drive it now it has a strong smell of petrol.
I can see a weep/leak of petrol about 1/2 way up the carb, or may be even higher.
Its enough to worry about the hot inlet manifold.
Do you think a stuck float would do this?
Any ideas before strip down would be great.
Many Thanks
Peter

Have you checked all the screws holding the body together?
Mine came a bit loose & ran crap as let a bit of air in as well.

Check stop solenoid is tight in the body as well.
If all are tight get a gasket set & rebuild

As above get a gasket set and while there you can check the float and its level.
Petrol needs a flame or spark to ignite, drops on a hot manifold just evaporate.

Many Thanks, that does alleviate my fear of a fire under the bonnet. Oh well off to strip the carb. I love petrol defenders :)
