Be carefull with that mixture when its cold, it may have worked fine for two tankfulls at 50/50 mix but is doesn't mean you havn't knocked a 1000 miles of the life of the pump.
When its cold the oil will become heavier and the pump will not like this.

If the oil is too thick it can cause the vanes in the low pressure pump inside the injection pump to break or buckle, causing pump failure.
That is the only potential problem, and at 50-50 you should be fine.

I have been using various ratios of svo and diesel for the last month 1100 miles. I have saved over £40 in one month and has part of my little experiment have used 100% svo for the last week with no problems at all it smokes a bit when it first starts. today I cleaned my sedimentor( I did it before I started using svo and it was clean I checked my fuel filter and again it is not clogged yet( I have spare one in boot ) I am going to settle on 75% svo and the remainder being the **** that lines the goverments pockets.

Have been happily running a td on 50-50ish for quite a while now, does anyone have any thoughts on upping the oil ratio - does anyone have any experience of problems which have been suggested with the lucas pumps, which as far as i can see is the only reason not to?

I've been running my td on veg/derv mixed now for about 6 months. I've done about 6000 miles using a mix of 50/50 at the mo with no probs whatsoever. I was using 8o% veg in the warmer months again with no problems. To be honest I reckon I could get away wit 80% now it's just a bit rough on tickover till it's warmed up. I plan on putting a tdi in the 110 eventually so if my lucas pump gets screwed in the long term it doesn't really matter. No sign of any problems yet though and I will have saved the cost of a tdi by using veg oil in the meantime.

Thanks H, think i will do the same and up the ratio a bit when it gets a bit warmer. No probs at all on 50/50, just a right faff tipping one litre bottles into the tank - but then they are way cheaper than the 3l ones! Bizarre supermarket pricing
