Contrary to common belief last night was NOT about heavy handed modding. It was about keeping deliberate SPAM off Landyzone.​

Last night happened because members of another site decided they were going to make a seemingly innocent question up and then answer it with a link to their site.​

DESPITE WHAT IS BEING DENIED ELSEWHERE THE PERSON LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WAS AN ALTER EGO OF THE SAME PERSON HE HIMSELF WAS LOOKING FOR.​

That is all that needs to be known.​

They were dealt with in the same way that any other spammer is dealt with. ​

WE DO NOT LIKE BANNING PEOPLE AND DO NOT WANT TO BAN PEOPLE. PLEASE DON'T MAKE US HAVE TO CONTINUE.​

in a past life i was a msce, mcd and mct so i have some understanding of IP addressing :)

i think this is an important question

did the posts from grunt and joe90 both come from the same IP address (i am assuming this board software logs the posting IP) or did they both come from users who appear to share the same IP addy

as ratty as already said if he's made a mistake then he is sorry, it takes some bottle to make an apology - wither that apology will be accepted in a grown up manner is yet to be seen

whilst i am sure Roy et al is concerned about this site i am sure he isn't depending on the income from it to pay his mortgage so hinting that ratty is having a material impact on his income is rather a misleading line of reasoning

lets just try and find out where the root of this issue is so we can give whoever is to blame a good kicking and then lets all get back to talking rubbish again

onhi members dont like ratty so take any chance to have a go and the other forum was not here when slob was so people could not go and ask for help on the other side

sean, your not the only one who as worked in computer's mate lets not get into an argument about whats what on them..i agree that the post ips would have to be the same if from the same location, but not nessacerly as a proxy can be used at the same time over a home/biz network.

now thats the post ip theory out of the way and i know as the owner of this self same software what access's ratty as and dosent have, i know for sure he can not do a indepth ping for true local full stop, and no amount of tech bable will prove he can...

now if roy or accy had stated this there would be no argument, however they havent ratty as and with his super mod account he as global access to all sections to moderate them he does not however have admin/server access.

ermm i dont know if yer a bit stressed but all i'm trying to do is get to the facts

if the posts came from users who both registered from the same address then that would support grunts comments

if the posts came from users who had the same address at the time of posting then it would appear that ratty is correct
