buy yourself an OS map and find out for yourself :D

Just check with the local Rights of way officer that they are all open ;)

Theres a thread on here somewhere that tells you what to look for....

It depends what you consider a reasonable distance. There's a load in Northumberland, but for the most part they are relatively short and not very taxing (I've driven lots of Northumberland's BOATS in a transit for work)

There's a couple of longer ones around Hexham and Haydon Bridge I haven't tried yet that look like they might be slightly more challenging.

Another good point about laning in Northumberland is that the council keeps its definitive map online so you can check the status of lanes before you drive them.

Thanks mick , very helpful mate .unlike wiltshire who could only advise that I was in the wrong section . There's always one !

Have a look here ...

http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f13/finding-gree-lanes-what-i-do-80111.html

Then consider why, after someone puts the amount of work in to discover lanes, their legality, their location and how feasible they are to actually drive, they should just up and tell a newbie, who's not yet a part of the greater community and who probably hasn't 'given' anything or participated in anything within the forum, exactly where those lanes are.

There are few lanes and those that we know of are regularly 'played on' by feckwits which causes TRO's and other bad blood between 4x4's and other groups that use the lanes.

Why not just go to the green lane section and ask if anyone's going laning in your area. If someone is it's almost certain that they'll let you tag along .. it's completely uncertain whether they'll just tell you where the decent lanes are ...
