Just took my series 3 out on the road for the first time and all seams ok execpt at speed like 40,45mph and above when you let off the pedle the car tugs to the left as if youv just sharply turned the wheel and dose the same but to the right when you put your foot down and you have to correct the streering nut it only dose it for that moment then its fine after untill you do it again, any ideas thanks.

play/wear in the rear spring bushes ,or axles loose on the springs ???

sounds like something on the rear suspension is moving under acceleration ,then going back the other way when you release the throttle ,effectively giving you reay wheel steering

Tyre pressures?
Off road tyres can have stiff sidewalls, mine have to be down to about 5psi before they look soft!

mine does that in 4wd. It doesn't seem to be a problem. the front diff aint locked and it pulls to one side when it gets more traction, thats why it wont do it in 2wd i'm guessin. If your runnin 4wd on concrete you better have like 4 inches of snow on the ground or live in Alaska where your driving on washboarded dirt roads every 15 miles.

its not in 4wd but some thing been loose on the rear axle would sound about right ill check it out thanks.

mine did this it was the rear axle u bolts that bolt axle to leaf spring they had rattled loose.

I have to agree with you there, had this many times on trucks where it sheered the centre bolt off and the axle slid about all over the place, or worse still the main leaf is broken.

Hi thanks for your help i no it was a while ago when i posted this and iv only just got round to lookin at it and it turned out to be the u bolts were loose.
