Hi and thanks for reading. I bought my lad a discovery mk1 hoping he would tinker with it. That didnt work out, so I fitted the 3" lift kit, new shocks and mud tyres I got for him and in a nutshell.. its now sat abandoned. hes got his road license now and has no interest in the landy. It gets a run around the field once in a blue moon. anyway I want to sell it but i didnt get round to doing the SORN. Its an MOT fail due to sills and boot lining. I want to sell it but can I sell without SORN or will I get fined and so should just break it and sell the bits? Thanks for reading and yes, I do know I should have SORNed it. Its just been used on the farm land. Cheers.

I taxed my 90 about two weeks ago without a problem- it hadn't been taxed or sorn for last 14 months.

Seems to be a bit of a lottery as to whether they do anything about it or not. I have had personal experience of it. A few years ago my stepson sold his car, which had been sitting on the drive unused for about six months as he couldn't afford to run it, and a couple of months later was being chased by a debt company for the back tax as he'd forgotten to SORN it. Needless to say, I ended up paying for it.

I broke a D1 just before moving house, in the move i forgot to tell the DVLA, but as we moved house i assume if they sent any reminders they never got to me... 18 months later get a debt collector letter saying i owe then a load of money for unpaid tax :/

DVLA don't care, you just have to pay up.
