I've been offline for a wee bit, i had an arguement with BT over their ridiculous prices ( £90 for a months Broadband!! )

anyway switching over to a cable company with access straight into the garage so hopefully i'll be back online with the cam in May :D

In the mean time i finally finished the bumper, even sprayed it black anorl ( posh fooker that i am  ) but still looking for a larger diameter sleeves for it as it looks abit skinny ;)

I was considering swapping it for Robint's 110 but after driving it upto Birmingham and back i realised how much i love the damn thing and can't be parted with it, so it's time to sort out those niggly bits that need sorting.

It has a tendency to lose water from a dodgy gasket leak which i've fixed to a certain degree with some metal putty, also oil is normally dripping everywhere but i need to sort that with the suspect oil seal failure on the front timing cover.

Got a set of fuse box's to replace the old ones, still need to fit the relay for the secondary battery and an inverter anorl.

As usual the list is huge ;)

good luck with it Paul :)

got a similar leak to you and narrowed it down to the front crankshaft oil seal, dont cost much but going to do timing belt at the same time so waiting for a day when i have a few hours to spare

Just remember to remove the timing pin from the IP..it can get messy :p

£90 for broadband a MONTH? :eek::eek:

Yeah i know, i was on some limited option and went over it, they charged a ridiculous amount for each gb ( £1 ) over, so stumped me for a bill of £88 for one month ( which includes the next months rental and such.

I told em to fook off and be realistic about it.

Another lesson learnt today, i stripped down the timing cover to find out where the god awful racket was coming from to find the crank damper had split on it's axis and the chunk which had broken away was merrily spinning around the crank with the rest of the damper making noise.

But why would it crack and break off i wondered, then it dawned on me, i used the 19J crank in this block, which for all intends and purposes is the same as a 200Tdi crank except one small difference. The crank bolt on a 19J is 10-12mm shorter than the 200Tdi as the thread isn't as deep...putting the 200Tdi bolt in provides the necessary lock with the washer but allows play in the crank damper and pulley, allowing it to move in and out a little. Over time the movement has caused it to wobble and ultimately crack and break off.

Fortunately the 19J damper is the same as the 200Tdi ( that i can see ) so time to swap em over and replace the seal as that has been totalled as well ( what i found previously poking out the wading hole ).

Without any way of testing i'm hoping it hasn't caused any damage to the crank itself, but only time will tell with that...

you don't have much luck with that really do ya mate

Got any pics of your latest work, Paul? Unless we're watching when you're "live" most of your progress goes undocumented! (I'm interested to see how the bumper turned out as it's still on my "to do" list)

I think i have somewhere Ian, although still a basic bumper as i'm still after some larger diameter tube to sleeve it to make it look a little less ' weedy '

I'll have a look later for you :D

Typically i updated my phone yesterday and lost the contents on the SD card so the nice shiny pics i had have disappeared :(

I'll take some more snap shots tomorrow at some point, got it on ramps atm, UJ's to replace ;)

T'was Good Badger I liked it, just tape the feckin camera somewhere next time, i got serious dizzy spells from being thrown all over the place when you dropped it , more than once i might mention.

See you tomorrow night bud.
